Hello everyone, I am Shirshendu from India, 19 years old. Have been using this forum for quite some time now for solving my problems.
I am a student studying Physics (in Presidency University, Kolkata). My first OS was Windows 10 (very very not happy with it). My Linux journey started in 2019 with Ubuntu for a few week and then Manjaro KDE 18.0.4! Unfortunately, on very the day of installation I (being a total linux newbie 
) botched up the the system 
, but I totally loved the Manjaro Project from then 
. I quit Linux for that time (which was not a very good decision) and went back to Windows.
Since then I had been testing various distros (including Manjaro, of course) in Virtualbox until I finally installed Manjaro earlier this year 
, and this time, not wishing to shift from it anymore. Since then, I am a happy user of this fantastic distro 
and using it as my main OS for all my needs.
Thanks a lot Manjaro team and devs for their love and dedication towards this incredible project and providing us with such a great experience 
. And thanks to this this great forum and all the very helpful people here who rescue us new users when we get stuck 
. Hope I also can be of some help here with the passage of time.

Long time Windows user finally making the permanent move to Linux. Just call me Xiee. I’m 41 years old and from the Philippines. I actually started using Linux back in 2007 using it at work and installed it on a laptop at home. My main desktop computer was still running Windows since I run a lot of games. Thanks to Steam, Wine and Lutris, most of my games are now playable on Linux, so I didn’t see the need to stay on Windows any further. Currently using Manjaro KDE on my main desktop computer and will install a lighter Linux distro on an old office workstation soon.

I used Windows for many years and experimented with Ubuntu on and off for over a decade before deciding to explore other distros. I looked into and decided to stick with Manjaro KDE on my (admittedly ancient) 2010 Dell desktop because it runs incredibly well and I’ve found several little helpful tweaks and fixes by exploring the forums here. I figured it was a good time to say hi and thank everyone for all the support they’ve provided without even knowing it

Welcome - beware of the dragons - former Ubuntu users usually takes time when introduced to pacman, AUR, makepkg and Manjaro’s inhouse package manager Pamac.
Arch based distributions don’t have PPAs but AUR - take your time to get aquainted with Manjaro and the maintenance of Manjaro before you dive into building packages from AUR.
KDE and Gnome is known to introduce hard to solve issues for newcomers to Arch based distributions.
Xfce is recommended to get your feet wet.

I’ve just made the jump from Windows and am very happy to be here. I’ve dabbled with the GUI side of Manjaro for a few years through bootable USBs, trying out the terminal using a raspberry pi so I couldn’t break anything important, and YouTube.
I love the idea of linux and I love the drive behind Arch and Manjaro – always wanted to make the jump. Surprisingly, I actually have Microsoft to thank for the final push: the hardware prerequisites for win11. My laptop may be 4 years old, but it works – 3d modelling, rendering, printing, photogrammetry, layout and photo editing, all still going strong – I don’t think I need a new one quite yet. That and blender is quite a lot faster on Manjaro XFCE
Anyways, sorry for rambling. Have a great day and thank you all so much for doing this – the time you invest, the knowledge you share, the principles you follow, the software you build. I know I’m not alone when saying: I really appreciate it. Looking forward to giving back if/when/where I can. Got to RTFM first though

Hi. I’m Prabs. I really hope that name doesn’t mean anything to you. Anyway, I’m an “”“artist”"" who sank quite a few years into Ubuntu and Arch, but haven’t touched Linux since around 2012. I like Manjaro a lot, but I’m still adjusting to using it and fine-tuning my setup, so I’ll probably be asking for help.

wpeckham here, new to the site. ANCIENT IT warrior, first linux was RH 4.2 back in 1997, before that I was using AIX, HP-UX, Coherent, VSPC, and CP/M. Have been running Debian, Sparky Linux, VSIDO, Elementary, Q4OS, Kolibrios, ReactOS, Puppy, DSL, and TinyCore when I happened to aquire a Pinebook Pro and discovered Manjaro! Been a year now and I run Manjaro now more than anything else.
Hello Manjaro community! I am a web application developer that primarily works on servers. I’ve used Linux as a second desktop periodically for decades but haven’t felt it was ready for everyday use until recently. As Windows 11 is on the horizon I am getting fed up with M$ forcing the same things users rejected time and time again while ignoring all the great Windows UI design ideas that keep showing up and featured on the Internet. I used Fedora, SUSE, and Debian\Ubuntu at various times. I wanted to see if there was a more steady-update distribution and quickly discovered Arch and then Manjaro. I am really liking it over other distributions for the greater freedom in running newer stable software rather than the 6+ month update cycles where they all recommend formatting & reinstalling for each major update. Looking forward to a much longer experience with Manjaro.
Hint: keep to LTS kernels and stay away from 'Stable" kernels AFAYC…
The later kernels at the moment have more issues - possibly because my computer is only about a year old. The newer kernel has better support for newer hardware. I will probably switch back to LTS once they become the LTS versions… and I have the LTS version installed in case I need to flip back to it.
Hello all. I haven’t used Manjaro since the last forum suddenly disappeared during an update. Most/many of you probably have no idea who I am, nor should you. I’m just here to say hi to an old member or two, and silently troll the help threads for both hilarity, and staying up on issues/fixes. It’s easier to follow as a member, so I thought I’d sign up.

I’ve been using Manjaro with the XFCE desktop environment since February 2019. I really like the rolling release model for updates and my system has been working well since then.
Fortunately, I was able to retain my username from the old forum.
Hello, I’m Matthew and I’m a new Manjaro user. Been using it for a couple months now and I’m very impressed with it. I went with Xfce desktop and it feels very comfortable. I made the decision to jump from Windows to Linux. Best thing I’ve ever done… No more system crashes, driver problems and far better security. (Sorry I’m still quite new to Linux and still learning) I must say the Manjaro wiki and the info that’s in the forum is very helpful.
Hi guys, long time linux serverside user, been using Linux with a pointer device only since manjaro for about a year on X86 and a bit longer on ARM, and I have little to complain about, except my occasional lack of knowledge 
I am using Manjaro as a platform for my own DE / UI, which is where I come from professionally (before, linux was always the ugly strong beast in the basement). I am building some stuff for over a year which I would love to contribute to the project if anybody’s interested, let’s see. Until then - this is to the community

I’m Keith, a relative Linux newbie - Dual booting with Windows for the last 4 months or so after wanting a different OS so I don’t feel like I’m at work all the time! Started with Ubuntu but switched my main desktop to Manjaro (Gnome) after 2 quite catastrophic updates from Canonical. My laptop still runs Ubuntu OK but my desktop just doesn’t seem to ever be happy. So glad I made the switch - really liking the Arch infrastructure so far.
I’m a full stack web developer and technical architect specialising in vanilla JS, Vue, .net and Azure. Love any opportunity to pull out a dev stack on my Linux boxes these days.

i have been using linux since the 90s , first with Slackware, then Redhat, then Debian, and finally Ubuntu for a few years. I have to say Manjaro brought back the fun and sense of adventure of the first years. Thanks to all the developers and contributors, I hope as I learn to be able to contribute somewhat as well.
Keep it up. Manjaro is how computing should be.
For decades I’ve been using 2/3 GPUs - at some point no distro was able to pick up on this. While testing out stuff Arch made me fall in love, because of the documentation and Manjaro was the first distro to get things right straight out of Calamares. So here I am, 5 years later…
