[Unstable Update] March 2026

Welcome to the new monthly unstable branch thread.

Recent News

New in Manjaro GNOME!

When choosing an accent color in Settings, the folder colors will now change automatically to match when using the Papirus Dark or Papirus Light icon theme.

To try it out, install gnome-shell-extension-papirus-folders-colorizer from Add/Remove Software, logout / login and enable Papirus Folder Colorizer from Extensions.

Or, if you prefer the command line:

Install:

sudo pacman -Syu gnome-shell-extension-papirus-folders-colorizer

Enable the extension:

 gnome-extensions enable papirus-folders-colorizer@NiffirgkcaJ.github.com

Logout:

gnome-session-quit --logout

Also, when applying accent colors from Layout Switcher settings, it will also set the matching folder color. Requires accent-color-change r172.c761c84-2 or newer.

KDE Plasma users with SDDM can now migrate to Plasma Login Manager

After ensuring plasma-login-manager 6.5.90-1 (or newer) is installed, run the following:

sudo pacman -Syu plasma-login-manager
systemctl disable sddm
systemctl enable plasmalogin
sudo pacman -R sddm-kcm sddm
Kernel 5.4 is now EOL

5.4.302 is the last maintenance release of the 5.4 kernel series. This kernel is now marked ‘End Of Life’ (EOL). It is recommend to switch to a newer LTS series like 5.10 or 5.15.

Kernel 6.17 is now EOL

6.17.13 is the last maintenance release of the 6.17 kernel series. This kernel is now marked ‘End Of Life’ (EOL). It is recommend to switch to the newer linux618 series:

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux618

[DRAFT] NVIDIA 590 driver drops Pascal support

With the update to driver version 590, the NVIDIA driver no longer supports Pascal (GTX 10xx) GPUs or older.

Impact: Updating the NVIDIA packages on systems with Pascal, Maxwell, or older cards will fail to load the driver, which may result in a broken graphical environment.

Intervention required for Pascal/older users: Users with GTX 10xx series and older cards must switch to a legacy driver to maintain support:

  • Install the official linuxXXX-nvidia-575xx, linuxXXX-nvidia-570xx, or related DKMS packages.

Additional Info

Python 3.14 info

:information_source: You will need to rebuild any AUR Python packages that install files to site-packages or link to libpython3.13.so.

Print a list of of packages that have files in /usr/lib/python3.13/ :

pacman -Qoq /usr/lib/python3.13/

Rebuild them all at once:*

pamac build $(pacman -Qoq /usr/lib/python3.13)

Use rebuild-detector to see if anything else needs to be rebuilt:

 checkrebuild

* It’s recommended to clean your build cache first with pamac clean --build-files

Info about AUR packages

:warning: AUR (Arch User Repository) packages are neither supported by Arch nor Manjaro. Posts about them in Announcements topics are off-topic and will be flagged, moved or removed without warning.

For help with AUR packages, please create a new topic in Support > AUR and a helpful volunteer may be able to assist you.

on this update ( 03/03/2026 ) i have this error

Impossible d’initialiser libxfconf : Erreur lors de la génération de la ligne de commande « dbus-launch --autolaunch=e1d2ad259a0c4b3494932a11ddd42221 --binary-syntax --close-stderr » : Le processus fils s’est terminé avec le code 1.

That can be ignored. Either way, it will no longer occur with manjaro-xfce-settings 20260221-3 coming along shortly.

@GaVenga you may check your pacman.log and see which packages got updated. Try to pinpoint the offending one. Like.accountsservice or systemd. Also check if you use homed.

After March 5th updates I rebooted and my sound device was no longer detected. I ran

sudo update-grub

and then I rebooted again and everything was fine. I am running kernel 7.0.0rc2-1 with Plasma.

homed.service runs, accountsservice installed on 3. March 2026,
systemd_259.3-1 on 5.March 2026.
Today (6. March 2026) no coredump any longer… :folded_hands:

For me still not detecting the sound card. I did a complete restoration of the system and then did a new reinstall of the updates after 03 of march and no detection of the sound card.
What logs should I upload to find whats wrong?

Also a problem with the sound, unfortunately I did not find the source, I tried to change the kernel version and systemd, but this didn’t help, probably related to pipewire 1.6 or plasma 6.6.2
try run systemctl --user restart pipewire.service work for me

I solved! by copying pipewire and wireplumber configs from /usr/share/ pipewire and wireplumber to /home/user/.config

No audio on speakers on linux-6.19.6 (both normal and zen kernels) / Kernel & Hardware / Arch Linux Forums It seems the problem is being discussed here, still without details,

Try pipewire 1:1.6.0-2, there’s a backported fix.

Yes, that seems to have fix the problem
