Unclutter Does Not Work Properly

Hi guys! Even correctly executing the functionalities of this application, according to its manual (man unclutter), I noticed that in many situations the mouse cursor is not hidden, for example when it is over some launcher icon, when it is over any part of the firefox window. Also, it does not start with the system. I saw a post related to him, but involving a different situation. I installed it through the application manager.

Hi Natan,

Could you provide info about your system?

You can make a unclutter.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart to start it automatically with these lines:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=unclutter
Exec=unclutter
Type=Application

Tip: When pasting terminal output on Discourse forums, one can either…

  • Use the Preformatted text </> toolbar button–NOT the Quote " button.

  • Add three backticks ` above and below the text (Markdown):

    ```
    type or paste code here
    ```

  • Use HTML:

    <pre><code>
    type or paste code here
    </pre></code>

Please edit your post accordingly. Formatting tips were mentioned in the tutorial linked above.

I believe your orientation has to do with orienteering “If you’re asking a question about an application, run it in the terminal first and provide the output enclosed in code formatting (3 ```, see N00b section above)”, and I confess that I didn’t understand how to access this N00b section, believing that there would be no problem with the faithful copy of the code in raw format, but that’s ok. I think now the output with system and computer information conforms to the forum…

FYI, you could have edited your existing post instead of deleting it. :wink:

I don’t understand what you were saying there. Do you have feedback about the tutorial post? Orienteering is a sport, I guess? :thinking: :confused:

What happens if you use X11?

Before logging in you can select this in the wheel right bottom iirc, choose gnome classic.

@natan I’ve used unclutter on my gnome system for a day now, and I kinda like it.
I run X11 and it does consistently what I think it should do.

@Hanzel It’s working fine with me too. The only detail that draws attention is that in some specific situations it is not acting. For example, when above Firefox and launcher.
