Unable to run Kitty and Alacritty

Hi, this is my first time using Manjaro. I installed the i3 community edition yesterday. Afterwards I installed kitty and alacritty but i get these errors anytime i try to run them.

[126 14:55:02.023327] [glfw error 65543]: GLX: Failed to create context: GLXBadFBConfig
[126 14:55:02.023443] Failed to create GLFW temp window! This usually happens because of old/broken OpenGL drivers. kitty requires working OpenGL 3.3 drivers.

Created log file at "/tmp/Alacritty-1392.log"
[2021-05-06 14:55:04.529075007] [ERROR] [alacritty] Alacritty encountered an unrecoverable error:
There was an error initializing the shaders: Failed compiling shader: 0:1(10): error: GLSL 3.30 is not supported. Supported versions are: 1.10, 1.20, and 1.00 ES

Is there anything I can do to get them to work or am I out of luck?

Both terminal emulators are using OpenGL. I guess you don’t have the proper drivers installed.

How do I download the correct ones? I’ve tried this so far but no luck it seems.

sudo mhwd -a pci free 0300

Ah, I’m sorry. Heres my inxi output:

What are my options for getting it to work?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/OpenGL

Could you also provide inxi -G --display ?

Here’s the output of that.

Graphics: Device-1: Intel Mobile 4 Series Integrated Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel
Device-2: Quanta HP Webcam type: USB driver: uvcvideo
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.11 driver: loaded: intel unloaded: modesetting resolution: 1366x768~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Mobile Intel GM45 Express (CTG) v: 2.1 Mesa 21.0.3

I’m curious about that driver: loaded: intel unloaded.

It seems your GPU is too old to support the GL version >= 3.3 that alacritty/kitty needs.

That’s unfortunate, but ok thank you for your help.

I might be mistaken, maybe there is someone else who can help investigate this further.
