I’m setting up dual boot with Windows 10 and for an hour now I’ve been seeing the message 2025-10-17 - 10:55:57 [6]: .. Running QList(“grub-mkconfig”, “-o”, “/boot/grub/grub.cfg”) help me what to do? It’s frozen at 90%
Hi @Tiwer, and welcome!
I’m going to ask the obvious. Have you tried restarting the computer and seeing if there’s any difference?
What happens when you change TTY? Try with Ctrl+Alt+F1-F12
Hi, I’m afraid to reboot my PC. I don’t have much experience with Linux, but I can say that I used to have Ubuntu installed, also in dual boot, and I deleted it through the disk manager in Windows 10. I just tried to enter ctrl + alt + f3, nothing changed, I just went to TTY
By the way, Manjaro sees Ubuntu even though it’s no longer there.
I think it’s just the boot loader remaining. I don’t think that’s the correct way to remove an OS. Any OS.
Also, why are you afraid of rebooting? What’s the worst that can happen? It restarts and nothing gets installed? You have to spend another 20 minutes seeing if it’s working?
Anyway, I think you should restart anyway, go into the BIOS/UEFI and make 100% sure fast startup and/or secure boot is disabled. Then boot into Windows and double-check the same there.
Chatgpt advised me to delete the system there lol, okay, I’ll try rebooting for a couple of minutes
Don’t ever use AI to manage/modify/work with your computer. Especially not Linux.
Please verify that you are using the latest ISO, 25.0.10.
If not, download it and try again – create a new Installer USB – use of Ventoy is suggested.
That’s all I have to add at this time.
Regards.
I installed it via Ventoy and I had the Secure Boot Support box checked before. Now I’ve unchecked it and will try installing Manjiro again. Thanks for helping me ![]()
Also make sure to select “GPT” as the partitioning style, so that the USB will boot as UEFI. Cheers.
Most welcome.
For future reference I’ll add the usual copy/pasted information (below).
Let us know whether the Secure Boot check box solved the problem, or if we need to look deeper.
Regards.
