There is no sound. Dummy output

The sound does not work on the HUAWEI Mate Book d15 amd ryzen7 5700U device. In the settings, it defines only a dummy output. When will support for this device appear?

I tried to download fedora and ubuntu from a USB stick, there is no sound either. I tried to install kernels 5.15 and 6.5 there is still no sound. Now there is a 6.1.41-1-MANJARO kernel.

Hi @Alexey88,

Since this is not you first post, so you aren’t new, you should know this already. But I’ll give it anyway:

Edit:

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

Since your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Please edit your post accordingly.

Thank you. Made corrections to the post.

OK,

Please note:

I have NO experience, nor do I use any audio on my PC,

But it looks like all your drivers are loaded:

…so I don’t think that’s it. And your alsamixer screenshot looks the same as mine:

https://i.imgur.com/VnZPcc6.png

Which makes me think it should be there.

So while running alsamixer, press F5 and see if anything else appears. See if you can select something, change the volume, or whatever and see if it helps.

Edit:

Also see:

and:

I don’t understand it at all. In Alsamixer, you can change the sound, the F5 key reduces the sound, and F6 increases it. F4 mutes the sound.

    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl list sinks short  ✔  7m 16s 

Welp, I’ve reached the limit of my knowledge. I don’t know where to go from here.

As I mentioned, I don’t use audio, so don’t have any experience. It was all just guesswork…

Sorry.

:sob:

Which sink to choose by default? Or try everything.

I don’t think it’d HURT. So go ahead.

    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl list sinks short

    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl set-default-sink s16le 2ch 44100Hz  ✔
You have to specify a sink name
    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl set-default-sink SUSPENDED
Failure: No such entity
    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl set-default-sink 0

then reboot

    ~  LC_ALL=C pactl get-default-sink

Well done for trying. Unfortunately this doesn’t mean anyfling to me…

It looks muted:

This button turns the sound on and off

Ah. Didn’t know it was a button, thought it was only an indicator. My bad.

This hardware is not supported by the kernel

If you set the profile value disabled in the configuration tab, a dummy output appears:

Question: is sof-firmware package installed? If not, install it.

I had a similar issue on a mini-pc, you are welcomed to try the fix. It fixes a known regression bug, on the intel audio driver, which is what your audio device uses.

Open a terminal and run the following two commands:

echo "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

echo "blacklist snd_soc_skl" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

No warranty implied or expressed…

There is still no sound

    ~  LC_ALL=C echo "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
[sudo] пароль для alexey:
options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0
    ~  LC_ALL=C echo "blacklist snd_soc_skl" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
blacklist snd_soc_skl

Have you tried to google matebook d15 audio driver linux? There are a lot of complaints on the internet about that laptop model.

One of the proposed solutions to the dummy output problem includes compiling a custom kernel using this patch.

The other one is to buy an external sound card.
