T430 fan doesn't seem to be running

Hi, since the latest stable update (2022-03-14), it seems like the fan on my thinkpad T430 is not running; I cannot hear it and can physically feel how hot my laptop is getting. However, running sensors says that the fan is functioning normally.

Running sensors yields:

Following the arch wiki’s page on fan control I installed thinkfan and have it enabled on level 7 but this did not seem to do anything.

Hello,

You should honestly switch to proprietary drivers Lenovo ThinkPad T430 - ArchWiki as the NVIDIA Optimus - ArchWiki will give better performance and control than nouveau drivers.

Thanks for your input. I updated to proprietydrivers via mhwd (video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-390xx-bumblebee, video-nvidia-390xx) but now I get a classic black screen error; I am bounced back to login after seeing i3 for a split second. Running startx also fails and checking the log at .local/share/xorg/Xorg.1.log yields:

I do not know enough to ascertain exactly what is failing. I followed arch wiki’s page on enabling bumblebee as well and that did not help

Nope, bad call, you only need the video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-390xx-bumblebee

Removing all propiety drivers and then manually only reinstalling bumblebee results in the same issue:

e[1me[31mWarning: e[mNo installed USB configs!

I also tried replacing bumblebee with only 390xx, in which case I dont even get a login screen, its straight black screem from the start. Thank you for your patience.

Downgraded all the way down to kernel 5.4 LTS and the fan is working again. Couldn’t get the propiety drivers working though.
