Black screen/booted back to login with propriety video-nvidia-390xx drivers

Hi all,

I am trying to install the appropriate nvidia drivers on my laptop because of an issue with my fan not seeming to work;l I was advised to install the propriety drivers instead of nouveau. However, if I install video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-390xx-bumblebee via mhwd (with and without video-nvidia-390xx also installed) and follow the setup like enabling bumblebee service on systemctl, the login screen works fine but I am bounced back the moment I log in (I see my i3 setup for a split second). Using only video-nvidia-390xx without bumblebee results in not being able to login at all; its a black screen from the very start. In either case I need to use TTY to exit and uninstall the propriety drivers. Switching kernels (5.16, 5.15 LTS, 5.10 LTS) has not helped either.

Sensors, as you can see the fans seems to be operating, but not very effectively. I cannot hear nor feel it and my laptop is burning hot to the touch when running multiple programs.
