it really could be the replaced display… its possible…
and yes you have a optimus laptop, you have prime drivers…
also post output from: find /etc/X11/ -name "*.conf"
before reinstalling lets try something, install this: pamac build envycontrol
when its done run this command: sudo envycontrol -s integrated
it will prompt you for reboot so do it… this will switch to intel gpu and disable nvidia, and test if that helped
before you install this, prepare the live usb of manjaro, and use ventoy to flash the iso
okay, I was in the belief, that an optimus driver goes with certain hardware. Which meant to me, I have the decision, but now you tell me the driver I user is optimus? I knew before it will bring problems.
Okay, whatever, let me do what you suggested.
Right now, while am writing I can only use the PC inside firefox. No way to open the console or any other thing.
Like a devil, believe me. And I cannot close the firefox even…
i have installed envycontrol myself and its working without issues…
open add/remove software app and search there for envycontrol and install it from there, if it works run this command: sudo envycontrol -s integrated
it will prompt you for reboot so do it… this will switch to intel gpu and disable nvidia, and test if that helped
Hi,
sorry, was offline some days.
And when I want to switch back to Nvidia again, how this?
I was believing, that I anyway use both at the same time and one of my next steps I had as idea is simply switching to the opensource drivers.
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 630 driver: i915 v: kernel
Device-2: Chicony HP HD Camera type: USB driver: uvcvideo
Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 21.1.4 with: Xwayland v: 22.1.3 driver: X:
loaded: modesetting dri: iris gpu: i915 resolution: 1600x900~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa Intel HD Graphics 630 (KBL GT2) v: 4.6 Mesa 22.1.7
Currently, the last day, it was hanging after the Grub screen like usual, but did it most of the time. Then after start up or restart I all the time needed to log the user out and in again to get a working environment. Right now also, restart - no clickability. Then log out and in, works. But I had a very long sessions earlier today and no interruption. The error starts to feel home
ok so nvidia is disabled;
so to be clear, you still have the issues, but when you do the usual - log out and in, your system works withou ANY issues? no clickability problems… etc?
Hi,
in short, yes.
Right now it was several times, that it hangs at this message about the blocks clean on nvme and then I cannot click anything which after logout and in again disappears and I can work. Funny, and I have no further interruptions during this session.
But this was already like this after the step before switching Nvidia off, I believe.
Am currently trying another problem get solved, that I cannot write on a MicroSD card mounted with an adapter and also cannot format it or put partition, the KDE Partition Manger doesn’t display it, whatever I try.
During this I have listed the groups and kind of couldn’t believe my eyes, that it only shows:
sys network power vboxusers lp wheel shaka2u1u
These are ALL groups? Maybe this a problem as well cause the hardware might simply not fully allowed to my user?
so switching nvidia off, basically didnt change anything?..
so open this: kate /etc/mkinitcpio.conf
and edit the modules section to look like this: MODULES=(i915)
save the file and run this: sudo mkinitcpio -P
then reboot and test if it helped
and does the card work otherwise? is is detectec via dolphin?
No, it made nothing remarkably. Just in this moment, when you have replied the window manager stopped working again.
I will do as I can now, just feeling a little discouraged.
