When I try to log into my Manjaro account I get a black screen for about a second and then it brings me back to the login screen.
I’ve tried some of the solutions given for the perpetual black screen on boot or on login but they haven’t worked for me.
Please help.
This is my inxi output:

On top of the above advice, does this also happen when you create a new user in the console?
Press Ctrl +Alt +F2
Log in there
Execute
adduser ttot2
Verify that the new user has access to the same groups as your old one by executing groups and comparing the output of both users.
groups ttot
groups ttot2
(Where obviously, ttot
is your old user and ttot2
is your new one.)
E.G. if ttot
is a member of operator
and ttot2
isn’t, execute:
usermod --append --groups operator twitty2
Execute:
reboot
when you’re done and try to login to ttot2

I think I have a better idea of what went wrong.
I was following the instructions on this webpage https://www.computerhope.com/unix/uxrdb.htm#examples
for using xrdb, in the section that says Examples
I opened up my editor and created a file called .Xresources since the page said to create one if it didn’t exist. And then on the first two lines of the new file I just entered the following:
sxiv.background: #000000
sxiv.foreground: #000000
I saved the new .Xresources file, with its new contents, in the HOME directory and entered the following command in the terminal: xrdb -load ~/.Xresources
After that I thought I had accomplished what I had set out to do, but hadn’t. So this left me wondering what exactly I had done. I noticed a hidden file in my home directory called .xinit and noticed this in the first four uncommented lines of the file:
userresources=$HOME/.Xresources
usermodmap=$HOME/.Xresources
sysresources=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xresources
sysmodmap=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xmodmap
After that I believed that rebooting my computer would put my desired configurations into effect. And that’s when I noticed that I was getting stuck in the login screen. So the problem MIGHT be that I overwrote something within the X11 files that I shouldn’t have.
Does anyone know how I can just reset the changes I had made? or bring it back to its default settings?
This is my inxi output:
