Welcome to Manjaro!
Please read this:
How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time
the output to inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

I used the GUI to set Mousepad as standard.
In the future, when providing code/output, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text so that the output looks like this:
instead of posting a link to another site that might delete the output in the future…
(as that makes both our lives much easier)
No need to do anything right now as I’m an editor here on this site and have fixed it for you already. However, in the future I might not see your post so review my edits by pushing the orange pencil above your post I just fixed.
go to a terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T and provide the output to:
cat $HOME/.config/mimeapps.lst
@maycne.sonahoz If that doesn’t help me solve it, I’ll need your help as I’m on KDE, but you’re on XFCE…
Did you try to do it within Thunar itself ?
Like so :
Now below is what i have in $HOME/.config/mimeapps.list
related to Mousepad
[Default Applications]
application/octet-stream=mousepad.desktop
application/x-gettext-translation=mousepad.desktop
application/xml=mousepad.desktop
application/x-wine-extension-ini=mousepad.desktop
text/plain=mousepad.desktop
Hope this helps
