[Stable Update] 2024-10-01 - Kernels, Plasma 6.1.5, KDE Gear 24.08.1, LibreOffice, Virtualbox 7.1

I’ve been trying to do so. See:

As you can see, so far I’m stuck. It’s not config. It may be a hardware issue, but it had to be introduced in some package, so finding it would be helpful. I could downgrade it and report a bug. But so far, there is not much help from others and I have too little experience with sound system. It’s too complex and even if I tried reading about it in the past, it was too confusing and unclear.

I had that issue, but I discovered that but with Win 11 running on the VM, I selected ‘bridged’ → [OK] and then back to ‘NAT’ → [OK] in the settings, and it works under NAT.

Hi @mirto
Many of us have the same problem. There is no solution (at least not consistent) but there is a workaround that consist in disabling session restore in KDE.

In the post you mention, the workaround is posted on the second page, post #28 and #29 (29 is a recap of 28). Additionally of the workaround I mention above, they mention that switching to wayland may solve it too. I can attest to that but may be you wish to try. Disabling restore session allowed me to boot/restart/logout again but contrary of what users described there, the problem for me returns after I enable it again, that is why (for me at least) is not a solution.
Try out and tell us if this work for you!

Omg, I did the update, rebooted and now my computer goes to BIOS…

Then, make sure the disk holding your Manjaro installation is selected as the first in boot order, save the BIOS settings, and then reboot.

If you have installed Manjaro as multiboot on the same disk as Windows, or any other OS, then please open a new support thread.

Cheers.

It is the first. It didn’t help. I also tried choosing it from boot menu but then it goes to BIOS too.

I only have manjaro on my drive

Is there only one disk? (not including USBs)

Even though this link is for another purpose, it may be helpful in recovering your system:

Please open a new thread for any further help needed.

Good luck.

Everything’s fine, and that last version of Thunderbird now works with my touchscreen, that’s a really good thing! (Lenovo Thinkpad, Gnome Wayland on intel graphic).

Thank you for the good work!

Switched to testing branch, after all.
Everything works fine. NAT in the vb win11 guest works fine.
I plan to stay in the testing branch.

Good plan, at least, until something else breaks.
(it’s Testing afterall).

Glad to see you’re back in business.

Cheers.

It didn’t work. I had to restore btrfs snapshot and update again. Now I am fine.

Quite a stresfull series of events at the beginning of a crowded week. But linux made it managable once again. :superhero:

(Yes, there is only one disk)

Glad it worked out.

Make sure to let others know you’re using BTRFS when asking for support. This fact can often change what is required to fix the problem.

Cheers.

A post was split to a new topic: Plasma-hud stopped working

Hi,

Nice update :-)

But

Please push Virtualbox 7.1.2-1 to stable branch, I did a test, it works just better.

edit 1 : I forgot, I installed it and next did a test…

Virtualbox 7.1.2-1 is available in Unstable branch and AUR - virtualbox-bin

@philm manually pushed VirtualBox 7.12 to testing in preparation for the next stable update.

@nikgnomic :point_up: :wink:

Branch compare shows testing branch has virtualbox 7.1.2-0.1

Right. Same pkgver, different pkgrel.

The problem mainly affects KDE Plasma. If one uses another DE there may be no trouble (skipping Pipe-wire and Virtualbox).
