[Stable Update] 2021-12-10 - Kernels, Systemd, LibreOffice, Plasma, Browser, Thunderbird

I have found just the one odd issue, whenever I click on the news notification for this release in matray, it opens up Wine (which loads infinitely) for some reason and won’t open the forum post. This notification about a file being copied then appears:
Screenshot_20211210_180028

Update went very smoothly. The issue I encountered with the last update with my icons looking “off” has been fixed with the new update so that’s nice.

EDIT: I found a minor issue that was very easily fixed after a quick search. Trying to open embedded images from discord would not open them in firefox and instead gwenview which was a new bug since updating.

Running: xdg-settings set default-url-scheme-handler http firefox.desktop in the terminal fixed my issue even though firefox was already the default setting for it. Maybe it just needed to be refreshed for whatever reason?

I had the same issue glottophilos had, and with discord, where it looked like Wine was trying to open links. This post fixed it

Using KDE, after the update reboot the SDDM screen was reset to some weird UI and had to re-select the default Breeze theme again.

Konsole also lost its default theme.

Thanks, I fix the ssdm issue, other issue is the menu icon, it is no longer Manjaro instead plasma

I am still getting the same problem asn the 11-19-2021 update where XFCE blanks screen but no login screen once it gets locked.

I am watching this thread hoping a solution might be forthcoming.

Bluetooth is not working for me after this update and there’s some odd behavior. Bluetooth seems to not be enabled in the UI, and clicking the enable button in the settings does nothing at all. Yet, the adapter is detected in various ways. Under Bluetooth, inxi shows state: up

#inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

I checked rfkill just in case and it seems all right…

#rfkill list

Yet bluetoothctl returns “no default controller available” and everything in the UI behaves as though bluetooth were disabled. Everything bluetooth worked fine out of the box until now.

Upgrading broke my Cudy Realtek AC1300 USB wifi dongle’s connectivity.

Hard to hardwire an ethernet port to solve the problem via pamac build rtl88x2bu-dkms-git … for which I am extremely thankful.

Am now cooking with the latest gas. Thanks to all involved for making this possible.

In the KDE interface, if the compositor is enabled, the Night Color tab in the System Settings is slow on open and has a bug in detecting Kwin_X11.

If I’m not mistaken… that’s the default “menu icon” when Plasma Style is set to Breeze.

If I’m right, you should be able to change that back to Breath which should include the Manjaro M… or, if you find you prefer Breeze but want the M you can adjust the Panel => Application Launcher settings:

  1. Right-click empty space in panel and choose Enter Edit Mode
  2. Hover/mouse over the plasma icon to expose the App Launcher context menu and choose Configuration
  3. On the General tab, click the icon, then select choose from the context menu to open a search dialog
  4. Type manjaro in the search box, select your icon, then click OK to close the search dialog
  5. Click Apply in the App Launcher Settings, then OK to close it
  6. Click the red “x” in the small menu that’s open in the top/center of your screen to Close Edit Mode

Just wondering is there any plans for Calamares to support BTRFS, like making it easier for users to have BTRFS instead of ext4?

There was not btrfs option in Calamares? If was not, please post full filename of that ISO image.

I have a small problem with the taskbar: the dust bin is not visible any more.

Actually, I initially thought I had to update the Profiles in Konsole and Yakuake separately too… but as it turns out, they share the Konsole settings (likely because Yakuake uses Konsole). I believe the reason it appears they are separate is that Yakuake keeps working from cached settings.

But if you make your Profile change in Konsole, then close/quit and relaunch Yakuake, you’ll see it picks up the Konsole Profile changes you made.

I’ve sometimes found after making theme changes that logging out and back in again sets things straight; often for things inside the Panel. For example, I’ve seen it were I saw empty space in the systray that if I moused over it I saw the name of the app. logging out and back in corrected it.

Went pretty smoothly here. As people have mentioned the Konsole profile was switched but that was just a simple click to reset to my old saved profile. Thanks all. Will report if I do find something.

Try to clean things

rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/

Or clean it deeper (careful if you use Wine it could remove your precious application shortcuts)

rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/wine-extension*.desktop
rm -f ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/*/*/application-x-wine-extension*
rm -f ~/.local/share/mime/packages/x-wine*
rm -f ~/.local/share/mime/application/x-wine-extension*
rm -Rf ~/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/*
rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/

Is the s2idle sleep fix implimented in 5.15.6? (Issue discussion)

Sorry I should be more specific. You can add a BTRFS partition but you have to go into manual partitioning to do it. I’ve done it before but the process (for me at least) has always been hit or miss. Where I will partition it with BTRFS and then black screen on boot. What I was asking is if there will be something like a drop down menu that will then auto do the partitioning for you.

Is executing $ pacman-mirrors enough to fix it?
