No problems - all updated and on to the latest kernel too - thanks Manjaro team

Me too! As I started this post, I go a message that there were not enough characters in my post. So many things and people have changed, I am uneasy about this whole thing.

…huggin’ you to help you feel at ease…

Excerpt from the “Boot-Hole” documentation:

In order to exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would already need to have root access to the system (or the ability to boot from external media, which would require physical access - at which point all bets are off anyway).

You only need to re-install grub if you are concerned about this vulnerability. If you just update normally and skip re-installing grub, your system should continue to function like normal.

The update broke my sound devices. Sometimes on boot only my USB headset is recognized and my motherboard audio is not loading. Sometimes no sound devices are loaded at all. The motherboard audio source never loads.

Great update, this seems to be more stable then last Stable Update
Thanks for all Manjaro Team!

I seem to have a similar issue with screen backlight as @sdwolfz after the update and switching to Kernel 5.8 (AMD R5 4600U laptop).

When decreasing brightness the first time, it goes to minimum. If I increase again, it then seems to remember the setting and everything works fine. Weird.

Everything went smoothly!
Thanks.

I would say the update went 95% smooth for me. The only issue I am facing now is I am unable to pair with any of my bluetooth devices (headphones) that I was able to use previously. Besides bluetooth issues, everything else works perfectly.

Anyone else experiencing bluetooth issues? TIA.

Running the Cinnamon Edition with many customizations. No issues. Thanks to the team for another smooth update!

Update went fine, but i dont know, my Sound is slower as before. I must Set ist to over 80% to hear it normal.

Update went mostly fine, but having problems with the DKMS module for ZFS. I got the following error during the update.

Unable to install module zfs/0.8.4 for kernel 5.7.14-1-MANJARO: Missing kernel headers.

So I continued on and assumed my test ZFS pool wouldn’t mount on 5.7.14.1. I crossed my fingers and rebooted, and everything was okay except my zfs pool. When I got prompted for the 5.8.0-2 kernel update, I did that assuming that then I could rebuild the zfs module. But this also did not work.

sudo dkms autoinstall
Error! echo
Your kernel headers for kernel 5.8.0-2-MANJARO cannot be found at
/usr/lib/modules/5.8.0-2-MANJARO/build or /usr/lib/modules/5.8.0-2-MANJARO/source.
You can use the --kernelsourcedir option to tell DKMS where it’s located.

This isn’t really critical for me and maybe I’m just doing something wrong just thought I ought to share this.

(102/121) updating manjaro-zsh-config
warning: directory permission differs from /root/
filesystem: 750 package: 755
(translated from portuguese to english)

everything gone well but I don’t know if I should do something about it…

After reading the analisys, this was my conclusion as well  . I assume that this vulnerability does not really “hold water” when being on a remote connection on a properly configured server as you’d not have access to the files in question. As you say: physical access, and then - yes - all bets are off, indeed.
Thanks for posting…

So far - so good. Another stable update. Thanks!

Can’t boot after update. GRUB complains that the Kernel wasn’t found. I can’t use the fallback either. I’m posting on my fallback Windows install. I don’t know how to use a new kernel.

Everything looks so good on Cinnamon. Thanks

ThinkPad P52, touchpad stop working after update, add psmouse.elantech_smbus=0 kernel parameter seems to fix it.
