Hi,
OS: Manjaro XFCE
NVIDIA video card(GTX1060) HDMI interface.
I have no sound when playing any audio files…streaming, saved/stored etc.
I have tried multiple kernels with the same result.
When I disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable, everything works fine…
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Hi
I have posted the output of “inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width”
Additionally, Windows 11 is running on the same computer with the same HDMI cable flawlessly, therefore, the cable is fine.
I have tried many flavors of Linx(Ubuntu, Debian, Manjaro, PopOS, Mint, MXLinux) and I don’t have any sound on any of these distros until I disconnect, and then reconnect the hdmi cable.
Thanks for any help
I would suggest to install manjaro-pipewire
and see if after reboot that helps.
You should consider updating motherboard BIOS - ASRock > B450M Pro4
I suspect system is using onboard analog audio as default-sink for audio output
and reconnecting HDMI cable is probably causing PulseAudio module module-switch-on-port-available to switch audio streams to HDMI output
Please post response to this command to show configuration of PulseAudio output sinks
pacmd list-sinks
the default-sink will be marked with an asterisk *
Thanks for your suggestion bogdancovaciu.
I installed “manjaro-pipewire” but, no change.
nikgnomic: thanks for your reply.
I ran “pacmd list-sinks” “bash: pacmd: command not found” was output.
I’m assuming this is because I installed “manjaro-pipewire”, which uninstalls “pulseaudio”
I ran “pipewire list-sinks” in terminal, the ouput is:
[E][01463.630418] mod.protocol-native | [module-protocol-: 609 lock_socket()] server 0x55a943dff440: unable to lock lockfile ‘/run/user/1000/pipewire-0.lock’: Resource temporarily unavailable (maybe another daemon is running)

I’m not sure what this means, or if it is relevant?
Thanks for any help
AT THE TIME OF RUNNING THIS COMMAND IN TERMINAL, THE SOUND WAS WORKING FINE, AS I ALREADY DISONNECTED/RECONNECTED HDMI CABLE.
