Some steam games render in red colors

I’m having problems with some Steam games. The output is in red shades (from black to red).

I’m running Manjaro Gnome 21.1.2 using Wayland or Xorg. Cause of the old graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5850) I have to run the steam games using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1.

These problems did not occur with older versions of Manjaro.

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

Please read this:

Especially the Linux has multiple kernels section, then try an LTS kernel and hopefully the problem will go away “automagically”.

:crossed_fingers:

P.S. If that doesn’t help, keep researching and posting additional information until someone actually running steam ( != me) shows up.

Using the Manjaro Settings Manager, I installed the last two LTS kernels (5.10.68-1 and 5.4.148-1), rebooted and selected the kernels in GRUB. To no avail.
Then I tried downgrading Steam’s Proton 6.3-6 to Proton 5.13-6 and the graphics look fine. It seems to be up to Proton, probably with the translation to OpenGL.

Try 5.14 bleeding edge then…
