OK so after reading THIS post, I upgraded to kernel 5.15.2-2 and the apps started working again, though with some warrning:
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
QApplication: invalid style override passed, ignoring it.
Available styles: Windows, Fusion
