Performance really matters, vote for wayland.
And not let M$ apply the policy to inhibit a kernel mode one.
If GUI in *nix is as fast or faster than that in M$, I’ll use *nix unhesitatingly.
Update:
- There is the good alternative of Guake Terminal: ddterm - GNOME Shell Extensions works fine in Wayland.
- SMPlayer supports Wayland well.
- Color Picker

does not work in Gnome 40 with Wayland, but there is other extension Color Picker - GNOME Shell Extensions works fine.
