SDDM crashes upon wake up after my display turned off by power management policy

Hello everyone,

Im new to linux and dived in this ecosystem as my primary OS on my computer.

My problem is when the screens are turned off to save power ( which is a nice behavior ) :
When i get back to my computer and wake it up, only one of my screens are actually turned on and it displays only the cursor over a black screen, as it moves it changes shape ( hovering text, edge of a window, etc… ) but the screen is black.

I got this faulty behavior since the installation of Manjaro and fixed it by loading nvidia drivers before sddm ( found fix here : https://forum.manjaro.org/t/timing-issue-stuck-at-black-screen-before-login-screen-restart-of-sddm-fixes-it/70928 )

Since this fix, it works perfectly on startup and wake up from sleeping or hibernation, it only happens when the power saving policy turns my screens off and i want to “wake” them up. The only temporary fix is to use the tty ( via Ctrl + Alt + F2 right ? ) and throw a sudo systemctl restart sddm and i have to reconfigure the full screen setup.

here’s the sddm logs :

If anyone has an idea i’ll take it,

Thanks !!

provide output from:
inxi -xG

disable screen locking in system settings, and see if that helped;
if it didnt helped, create a new test user from system settings, reboot, log in with the test user and test;
try with different kernels

Hey thanks for your fast reply !

Sure, here’s the inxi -xG output :

Graphics:
  Device-1: NVIDIA GA102 [GeForce RTX 3080] driver: nvidia v: 525.89.02
    arch: Ampere bus-ID: 2b:00.0
  Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 21.1.7 driver: X: loaded: nvidia gpu: nvidia
    resolution: 1: 2560x1440~165Hz 2: 1920x1080~60Hz
  API: OpenGL v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 525.89.02 renderer: NVIDIA GeForce RTX
    3080/PCIe/SSE2 direct-render: Yes

Im also using the proprietary drivers from nvidia.

Disabling screen locking doesn’t fix the issue.

I’ll try differents kernels as well from now, which tests can i do ?

with screen locking i meant this:

and click apply…

and in system settings/ login screen/ behaviour/ check 'automatically log in as your user and session plasma, click apply, and test …

then create the test user as outlined above and see if it happens with it too…

and try the 5.15, the 6.1 and the 6.2 kernel

Fixed !!

Downgrading the kernel to 5.15.102-1 fixed the issue
