RE: Changing default terminal in KDE

how to change my konsole to xfce4 terminal

Hi @Rocklin, and welcome!

Just install Xfce4 terminal from the extra repository:

$ pamac  search xfce4-terminal
[...]
xfce4-terminal                                                                                                                                                                                                                 1.0.4-1                extra
A modern terminal emulator primarily for the Xfce desktop environment

So it can be installed with:

pamac install xfce4-terminal

And open it, instead of Konsole.

Edit:

Although, I’d recommend against it as, in my opinion at least, Konsole is very much rounded and has a lot of amazingly great features. And if you’re using KDE, it’s the default Terminal Emulator which, as @linux-aarhus said, is based on Qt, which is KDE’s default. Unlike Xfce, which uses GTK, not Qt, so it will cause problems somewhere down the line.

Why would you want to do that?

You can install xfce terminal - :point_up_2: - but making it default within the Plasma environment is not going to be easy.

You can change the plasma shortcut pointing to konsole - but I am fairly certain that whenever Plasma needs a terminal emulator - it will launch Konsole.

I have located where you set the default terminal emulator for Plasma - that is - if you are interested.

System Settings → Applications → Default Applications - Terminal emulator
