Hello, I’m a new Manjaro user and I really like this system very much, but there are some thing that ruin my workflow. I tried to fix them by myself, but my trying was futile, so after awhile I decided to create a topic on Manjaro forum.
I’m using laptop HP Pavilion 15-cx with nvidia gtx 1050 mobile and using drivers hybrid-nvidia-intel prime.
Manjaro is my primal OS with no dualboot whatsoever and OS is located on NVMe driver. I run bios with disabled security boot and without legacy mode (from my understanding I’m boot from uefi, could be wrong tho)
As I said in my headline, Manjaro often freezes completely leaving me no choice but to use hard reset, sometimes it’s just freezes for a short time (seeing it more often when doing something like watching youtube videos), one time it was lagging for some long time but in the end I have to hard reset, it did happen when I tried to delete wine through pamac. (could be somethign with proccesor) Often Manjaro likes to kill/crush my libre office writer when I’m in the middle of the work.
When I close the laptop’s lid there’s around 50% chance that when I open lid after a while I’ll see a black screen with LED on my keyboard still on (if i recall correctly), leaving me only one option to do a hard reset. It’s probably happen more often when i close the lid with youtube video still on and in fullscreen.
After I close the lid sometimes fans still working. One time i closed the lid and hear fans spinning, but i wen to sleep and after i wake up all power from laptop was drain and it was unable to power on for some time.
I’m using Firefox and like to open a bunch of tabs (could be between 10 and 40), from what I was reading on forums i have some guesses with which could be some problems. Maybe i don’t have swap on my system, but I’m inexperienced and didn’t get to how to make it, could be some problems with my hybrid graphics or some problems with NVMe, I did install TLP and TLP UI for power management, but didn’t get anything useful from TLP UI. Also could be something with BIOS. I tried a few versions of kernel (5.4; 5.10), I believe results are the same.
Here’s my system information:
