I’ve tried kernel 4.14 and it works well, so it is as @scachemaille stated, that the kernel upgrade broke my actual system, in some way.
@Aragorn I appreciate your suggestion, but that seems to be op for what I need.

Could not find a solution to this problem, was forced to either downgrade or upgrade kernel. Closing this thread.
