Polkit dialog freezes on authentication if screen was blanked before authenticating

No.
You just need to copy/paste the gamut
highlight it
and use this formatting option displayed atop as the sixth symbol from the left:

it will look like this:

What did I just say? Everyone is losing patience with you very quickly.

Having said that, I do appreciate you making an effort.

All is better than none.

More information is required. @Ste74 is the developer of manjaro-log-helper. If there are any issues with it, we would be happy to address them.

Polkit is working fine.

We’ve already gone over what will help you. I’m certainly not repeating myself.

Pondering…

What happens when autologin is in effect, the gnome-keyring can’t be unlocked, and the screen is allowed to blank/lock before authenticating an update transaction?

autologin has all kinds of issues in it’s wake

But this here is not about that.

This is specific to the GDM / Gnome combination.

Does not happen with other DE’s

GDM always was a pig (SDDM as well, to a lesser extent).

The Simple Desktop Display Manager has never really been considered heavy.
Historically it was among the lighter … at the point one was actually using a DM.
Any association with it being heavier is either misplaced, or some new conflation since its adoption by KDE.
The fact that it is used by LXQT though may go some way to dispel that conception.

I have always (in my mind) connected SDDM with KDE/Plasma.
Is it easily possible to replace GDM by SDDM and still have Gnome behaving as it should?

I could just try - but maybe you know.

I know SDDM can be used for many environments.

But I also know Gnome can be picky.

I thought I recalled some examples of people using Gnome+SDDM but that might have been a long time ago. A quick search held at least one comment stating ā€˜works but cannot lock gnome session’ … from a few years back.

Failed on two different machines running Gnome desktop … has anyone tried launching it & actually testing it…

I just tested Manjaro Log Helper, it works. I use KDE though.

I did.
Works as intended.
But the logs are not specific to the issue.
Few lines in a sea of irrelevance.

It’s better to capture or highlight a specific time frame
instead of just dumping all of it.

You can always go to the bottom of the file

or:
just give the relevant lines at the end of the file in the first place … :grinning:
It kinda shows an effort and that one knows what he is after and what he is doing and why.

& it works on Mate & Cutefish DE’s too…

on what DE…
