I run the live install with open source drivers, and try a clean install, but I get the below error. Not new to Linux, but new to Manjaro. What other information would be helpful on troubleshooting this?
Boost.Python error in job "unpackfs".
Command '['unsquashfs', '-l', '/run/miso/bootmnt/manjaro/x86_64/desktopfs.sfs']' returned non-zero exit status 1.
I’m typing this post from my other PC, but imagemagick is mentioned as part of the rest of the error message.

Any thoughts on why this is failing? I should mention that a clean install of XFCE works just fine.
Hi there, Welcome to the forum!
That statement is not in question.
However, in order to get proper assistance from our community , we recommend that you provide information from your system as per below:
Welcome to Manjaro!
To allow all of us helpful gurus on this forum TO HELP YOU, we need some basic information about your system. This probably means you described the symptoms of your problem, but now we need some more information to know where the origin of your issue is exactly.
Someone probably linked you to this tutorial, so if you’re reading this in response to a question, please click the green link above this text to bring you to the full and unabridged text of the tutorial…
Also, I’ve noticed you reported another issue on an existing thread. See below.
I’m also experiencing this issue. I was using Gnome just fine about a week ago, and this suddenly cropped up. I did a format and clean install and the issue persists on a cold boot. If my system sleeps/hibernates/suspends, the login icon shows up, but that’s not a great solution.
I’m not entirely new to the Linux space, but I can’t even figure out how to troubleshoot this. I’ve tried dropping to TTY, but I get a single underscore character and nothing but CTL + ALT + DELETE can get me back to a…

Thanks. Have fun!
Apologies for the bump. I can open a separate thread when needed on that one. For now just trying to get a good install on Gnome.

What else might be helpful for troubleshooting?
Checksum and GPG checked out for both full and minimal. I tried the full and the minimal installs as plain vanilla for partitioning as could be had. Ideally, I’d like to go with a partioned home directory, but to eliminate potential issues, I’m doing nothing manual. No swap either for these attempts.
Minimal installed just fine as of this morning. Although it still suffers from the same (and separate) GDM login issue mentioned earlier.

Just as a follow up to this. I couldn’t figure the issue out after a couple of days of troubleshooting. I just installed XFCE and moved on as this is my primary machine.
