One of my two screen has red shifted after an update

Hi,

I need your help guys. I tried finding the issue myself but I’m not knowledgeable enough to sort that one.
I put that here because it’ s an issue that only append once my manjaro is launched. Nor windows neither grub have this issue. I suspect gdm but cannot confirm.

So I have a dual screen setup. One of them (the main one of course) has a obvious red shift since an update like there is pink everywhere.

Can you help me please? It’s a little annoying.

Hello, do you have a moon crescent icon on the upper right corner?

Try to see if Night shift mode is enabled. It automatically dims screen brightness/colors depending of the hour if enabled.

No , I disable night shift mode but the issue is still there.

My issue is only concerning one of my 2 displays. The other one is fine.

I even try changing the color balance (in gnome settings) but again it’s a setting that concern the 2 screens together so…not a solution. (or maybe I missed something)

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
  3. The output to xrandr would be helpful as well.
  4. Does this happen already before you log in?
  5. Have you tried the redshifted monitor on another computer already? (I.E. Is is a HW problem and the update was just a coincidence)

:+1:

P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time

Hi, thanks for the advices.

The issue is happenning at the login screen too but not at grub. I have a dual boot for windows and it’s not happenning on windows too. I just try on my laptop (which is on manjaro too) and no issue.

inxi and xrandr look normal, and as you’re on Gnome and I’m on KDE, I can’t help you much further and can only tell you it’s probably a Gnome setting and not an underlying nVidia or kernel setting…

:sob:

If you disable the dual screen, is your main screen alone still reddish?

I tried unplugging the second screen and no, “Turning off and on again” didn’t work but I didn’t think about it so thanks.

So I found a “solution”.

What did I do. I had my main monitor on a DP cable and my sub on a HDMI. I tried switching the two cable and surprise no more redshift on my main but no signal on my sub. But It was not reboot-proof and the redshift came back after a reboot.

Then I deleted the color profile of my main and selected it again (in settings → color ). That’s the solution.

But my DP cable has no signal anymore so no sub. I had to switch to a DVI cable to get it back . So There is still weird things happening but I can work again so it’s solved I guess?

Maybe it’s time for a re-installation? Not sure to choose manjaro again tough. This computer became my working tool thanks to coronavirus . Having a problem on my personal computer well it’s the game of rolling release but since it became needed to earn money well I found it a little too dangerous to play that game now. (with my current knowledge it is)

Hi polyphonus
the same red screen appears after upgrading the kernel into 5-10.53.
The first gamma block of the grey scale was turned on red instead the black block.

I came back into the kernel 5-4-135.
After morealess 3 days, the graphics card itself has launch as a sort of reset and the screen returned on black color , without red - Gamma grey blocks was being OK.
