NVIDIA X Server Settings only showing two options

Hi there, I have no idea what I did to my laptop yesterday since I was tired out of my mind, but now my NVIDIA X Server Settings are only showing two options: “Application Profiles” and “nvidia-settings Configuration”. Can anybody help?

buy AMD

just joking but please give us a few overview of the system with inxi as it always should be and described below, so we can see what graphic device and driver is active.
:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    [HowTo] Provide System Information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

:+1:

Haha, I definitely would have if I managed to find an AMD laptop around here, here’s the output from the inxi though:

may you check the infocenter if the mesa-driver is active ?

applicationlauncher->system->infocenter

otherwise open a terminal and run glxheads. what is active ? intel mesa ?

Running glxheads outputs this:

glxheads: exercise multiple GLX connections (any key = exit)
Usage:
  glxheads xdisplayname ...
Example:
  glxheads :0 mars:0 venus:1
Name: :0
  Display: 0x556654909120
  Window: 0x5800002
  Context: 0x55665492c0c0
  GL_VERSION: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 21.3.8
  GL_VENDOR: Intel
  GL_RENDERER: Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics (CML GT2)

and the infocenter also states the graphics processor as Intel mesa

let me guess, there was an update ? actually prime is active. you can live with it and add a “prime-run” to the application you want to render with nvidia or doing the hard way to run explicit on nvidia. actually i accepted that prime-run is the favorit of manjaro, but i’m not sure if i’ll change it. if you want to run an application like let’s say firefox, you’ll edit the programm-capability and edit to “prime-run firefox”. it has certain advantages and disadvantages and will split the community to 2 parts.
here’s some information of prime:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME

I am aware of prime-run, but I’m not sure how this correlates to my original question? (I don’t mean this in a rude way, just curious)

well same here, if mesa is active the nvidia-settings only have a minimum-access for editing. there must be some changes with the last updates.

Ahh, I see your point now. I may just try to reinstall Manjaro as this is my first install on this laptop, and I’ve messed around with the system a lot to see what works.

just check the forum and the wikis before installing a new system how to set up nvidia as primary gpu. this will help later not to get an total headache. nvidia is a mess.

The NVIDIA driver is not properly installed. Looks like you’ll need video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime. See Configure Graphics Cards - Manjaro

What’s the output of:
