No USB devices are working on brand new ASUS 515DA laptop

None of the USB ports support communication with connected devices, such as USB storage or extermal mouse, although the ports appear to be powered.

Assume problem is related to the following error in the journald log:
|26.12.21 16:45|kernel|xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.4: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead|
|26.12.21 16:45|kernel|xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.4: HC died; cleaning up|

I would welcome any advice how to fault find and correct this problem?

USB ports can often be disabled in the BIOS menu. It would be odd for them to be disabled if you did not set them that way, but if it is a new machine it might be worth a peek.

Problem solved by disabling “tlp”.service and de-installing TLP.
