I have flagged post #27 because of the background image and also because it is showing PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) not alsamixer

Please post more information about ALSA settings in text-format

Hi there friendly people, are there maybe any other suggestions ?
Thank you!

did you tested, if the sound is working using jack?

Yes, please review the Forum Rules.

I just tested, unfortunately no sound via jack :frowning:

try running this:
sudo alsa force-reload
test audio, if it doesnt work, try this:

amixer -c0 set 'Master',0 100% unmute
amixer -c0 set 'Speaker',0 100% unmute
amixer -c0 set 'Headphone',0 100% unmute

test audio, if it doesnt work, install the 5.19 kernel(not the rt one), reboot and test audio again

Hi there,

Thanx for the reply again!

Unfortunately these comment’s doesn’t work.

alsa command is not found

for the amixer command i get the following output:

amixer: Unable to find simple control 'Master',0

I’m hoping this could be the source of the problem ?

I also fiddled around a bit with alsa, unfortunatly this did not help aswell.

I did the following according to https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/ALSA:

cat /proc/asound/cards  ✔  22s   base 
 0 [sofrt5682 ]: sof-rt5682 - sof-rt5682
                      HP-Dragonair-rev4
sudo touch /etc/asound.conf

and add the following code:

defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.ctl.card 0

and tried to run it in firefox:

apulse /usr/lib/firefox/firefox
[GFX1-]: glxtest: VA-API test failed: failed to initialise VAAPI connection.

and nothing :frowning:

the alsa command will not work on manjaro/arch, didnt know that when i posted it…
the problem is, you having a chromebook, where the audio is a mess, you can check on internet, and there are others with audio issues, what is recommended is to buy some cheap usb audio adapter in the meantime… you can check this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Chrome_OS_devices#Fixing_audio

Hi there.

Yes I was worried i needed to settle with that. too bad. I did purchase a usbc creative aptx dongle.

I just have to choose, manjaro without propper sound, or chromeos. Ill think ill go with manjaro.

yes its unfortunate, didnt find really any solution for the chromebook except the arch wiki link… only wait till its fixed upstream, and in the meantime you can use the usb dongle

If you search Manjaro forum there are some recent discussions about audio on chromebook systems with rt5682 codec that may have useful information*

amixer commands failed to find controls for Master, Speaker or Headphone because there are no corresponding mixer controls shown in post#32
I don’t know how ALSA can be alleged to be a ‘mess’ when the data is ignored

I suggest you try adjusting audio settings in ALSA with alsamixer

alsamixer --card=0 view=All

and try using a music player to bypass PipeWire and play direct to ALSA

EDIT: *for latest information see links in this discussion

Hi there,

I’ve switched to linux kernel 6 and see that my audio device has changed from cometlake to dummy. Is there a way i can reroute it to the card?

My card info can be found here, from what i can see there are no errors this time.

alsa-project

Dummy Output in PulseAudio (and probably PipeWire too) is only created when no hardware devices are detected for audio playback

ALSA data is showing playback and capture devices for onboard audio sofrt5682 (and a lot of audio mixer controls) so audio issue is more likely to be within PipeWire
But I suggest checking if audio can playback direct to ALSA hardware device without using PipeWire is working ok before troubleshooting PipeWire

Hallo everyone!

I’ve fixed it!

I’M SO HAPPY
What i did was upgrade to the latest kernel (6.0.2-2).

After that i saw multiple sound cards pop up in pulseaudio.

And now if i select the pro 5 i have audio from my speakers!!

I have however no Idea why this worked and what ‘pro audio’ is while stereo output flags are all unavailable (first image).

Can anyone here please explain me what is going on ?

Thanx!!!
