Hello, I have recently had to update my laptop to an MSI Prestige Evo 14 (w/ latest BIOS), which has an Intel Tiger Lake CPU, and using the latest KDE installation ISO, there is no audio output. The hardware is detected (i.e. no “Dummy Output”), but there is no sound. I have tried installing manjaro-pipewire
as I’ve seen recommended, but that did not fix anything. I have looked at other posts in this forum but haven’t yet seen a solution. I am using the refind
bootloader as well.
Here is the output if inxi -Fza

Perhaps someone is familiar with that is going on?

Thank you for writing back. sof-firmware
has been installed by default. I should also mention I’m using the 5.18 kernel (but the behavior was the same for 5.15 and 5.17)
so try with the 5.19 kernel… also try different profiles in system settings/audio
There is no difference in using the 5.19 rc1 kernel. The only audio profile available is Play HiFi quality music

can you check alsamixer ? open a terminal and start
alsamixer
it’s a basic tool but you can check the mutings etc… and change it.
Nothing seems out of the ordinary in alsamixer

yes, everything seems okay. maybe it’s (again) something with these weird idle/suspend/hibernation BS.
please post
cat /etc/pulse/default.pa
“load-module module-suspend-on-idle” active ?
it seems active, yes. Would it be wise to try this? [HowTo] set up the audio card in Samsung Galaxy Book as it uses the same realtek audio card?

let’s give it a simple try, replace
load-module module-suspend-on-idle
with
###load-module module-suspend-on-idle
it’s pssible you need sudo to edit, please reboot and see if there’s a change. if not you can always undo this step.
unfortunately there was no change =/
