okay, please check the following, but take care:

" No HDMI 5/7.1 Selection for Device

If you are unable to select 5/7.1 channel output for a working HDMI device, then turning off “stream device reading” in /etc/pulse/default.pa might help.

Failed to create sink input: sink is suspended

If you do not have any output sound and receive dozens of error messages related to a suspended sink from running journalctl -b as root, then backup first and then delete your user-specific pulse folders:

$ rm -r ~/.pulse ~/.pulse-cookie ~/.config/pulse"

Neither of these solutions seemed to change anything, unfortunately. I did notice this in journalctl, if it has any relevance:

jack ? why ? is there something you also installed and didn’t told ?

I haven’t installed anything beyond manjaro-pipewire and then, per this threads instructions, replaced it with manjaro-pulseaudio

this is confusing, i have no idea.

I can try another fresh install, though I dont know how much that would help

before you could simply use a live-iso and check if this works. that’s less work. but yes it’s a good idea.

yes if audio is workig. in this case you can analyze the difference and you’ll see what driver and what settings are used.

Currently booted into the most recent live-iso for KDE and the audio does not output.

well you can try 2 different things now. first, boot to your existing system and check the software-manager if a packet called “sof-firmware” is installed. if not please install. a 2nd test, you could use a different live-iso (linux-mint or similar) and test if audio works in their live-iso. if so you could check what drivers are installed and this would give you a hint what to install. i googled a little bit so i would recommend to check first if “sof-firmware” is installed.

sof-firmware is definitely installed, so I’ll try the other option after a bit more digging

Linux mint was no dice. However, when I rebooted after the linux mint live-iso and booted into Manjaro again… the sound started to work. I genuinely dont understand how. I will provide any and all logs to further understand this unusual behavior.

the aplay and pactl command-output would be interesting to me. what is the difference now ?
