Unfortunately, I think the 340xx series driver is being deprecated.

[image] It becomes harder and harder to support the older and legacy Nvidia drivers for upcoming kernel series. Starting with 5.9 kernel series, only 450 and 455 are supported by this kernel. Older drivers simply don’t compile anymore. Out of the two, only 455 supports CUDA. If we look at Arch, they already dropped the legacy drivers completely. We would go back to a rolling driver update, and only offer the latest Nvidia driver. This might bring back the known issues, that some graphic cards …

[Nvidia] Deprecation of 340xx driver series

[image] We had a good run with Nvidia 340xx driver series. However, at some point also we have to drop that driver. With Manjaro 19.0 release we will remove that driver from mhwd-db. This means the driver won’t be recommended or detected by our distro by default. 340.108 was the last release by Nvidia to support X 1.20 and Kernel 5.4. As soon as there is an update to X that driver is gone. poll

Also, if you look in the branch compare and search for nvidia-340, you can see that it’s already removed from unstable and testing branches. So I assume it will be removed from the stable branch very soon.

So I would recommend bumblebee driver instead of the proprietary driver.
