New pending updates break my system

Whenever updates are available and I go to click on the package manager in system tray, it doesn’t open. Nothing will open. I have to hard restart. Apply updates. Then restart again.

Why would the operating system fail at this similar point almost every time, all but one update this past year has caused this.

No programs will run. Not konsole, not settings, not system utilities, not even system activity monitor will launch.

Most the time I get an error about system bus lost connection. Apologies for not having the verbatim error, it didn’t flash that this time. >> this is the error “Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying”

Its so odd.

EDIT:: Ive always ran into this bug when I go to launch a “system Utility” such as night color control, add/remove programs, and sometimes task manager or system settings. I have no idea how long the issue sits just fine for, until I finally notice system tray indicator on updates or go to open task manager or other system tool.
Its likely no more than 24hrs before I notice and have to hard reset due to opening up night color control everyday, except maybe a day or two every few months.
Everything else works just fine or at least Ive not noticed anything else.

EDIT 2:: Logs based on the command given in the first reply. This log is NOT from before or after the bug occurs. Unless someone has some ideas, I wont be able to get logs at the time of noticing the bug; none of the terminal/cmd line programs will launch…altho, Yakuake might still function properly but I cannot explicitly recall trying to use that for restarting

Did you forget, to include some error-logs ?

Please try the update in a terminal and provide logs :wink:

I feel like we saw a few ‘pamac (tray) crashes’ threads …

There is this one that is unresolved …

For now I might suggest 2 things;

Mirrors and update using pacman:

sudo pacman-mirrors -f && sudo pacman -Syu

Backup pamac config:

Didnt have email notifications on. Thanks for the leads. Ill get around to posting logs within a day or two.
I was frustrated, flustered, and lacking time on the date of my og post to go look up what logs to post and what commands are needed to do so.

Starting the thread as I did has now provided me the log info commands as well as a few others things I look into first. I think thats a better result than if I woulda pulled my hair out trying to include all the log info. I just wanted to get a solution moving forward. I appreciate the input so far.
