New Manjaro user - Sound question

Hi Manjaro Community! I am a long, long, long time Fedora user, the last 2 versions of Fedora (40 and 41) have left me with no sound from my speakers on my laptop. I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion 9, and here is my sound card:

$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Raptor Lake High Definition Audio Controller (rev 11)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation Device 22bb (rev a1)

I have the nvidia-kmod Fedora package installed and I have applied all available updates to the system but still no sound from the speakers.

I am going to switch to Manjaro and see if I have better luck.
The primary frustration I am having at the moment with Fedora is the lack of any feedback from the mailing lists / forums on even how to go about debugging this issue.

Anyone know if the above soundcard is supported ? Any thoughts on how to debug this if it doesnt work in a Manjaro install?

Thanks in advance

It’s hard to know, may be better to write a live USB and try yourself. I think it’s the easiest way and you can see if you feel confortable with Manjaro, check if all the hardware is working or see any error messages.

As @Arrababiski says, easiest to try a Live session from the latest .ISO of your choice.

You might need to experiment with different Kernels which you can only (practically) do on an installed system (not a Live Session). So an option here would be to use a “spare” disk to install on before you fully commit.

I don’t know when that sound card was released but any LTS updated after that time hopefully will have the necessary drivers included; if not, then give the latest HWE (linux611) a try. (Looks like linux612 LTS is out, or at least will be shortly).

please post more information about audio devices detected in ALSA

sudo alsa-info.sh --upload

I cannot find a patch request posted at bugzilla.kernel.org
and no trace of a patch on Linux Kernel Mailing List

I ran the alsa-info upload for my legion 9 (still running Fedora 41 at the moment):

I also installed Manjaro on an LG Gram which is giving me the same issue, ran the alsa-info upload on that install as well:
