Nemo on KDE Plasma

Hello there. I uninstalled Dolphin and replaced it with Nemo from the Add/Remove Software app (Dolphin was freezing Plasma frequently even going black screen, so getting rid of it was a relief). Nemo works fine, except that it won’t let me paste anything from the desktop directly using the right-click menu (the paste option appears greyed out). Instead I have to minimize Nemo and then drag and drop anything from the desktop or do it from inside Nemo. Any clues to why this is happening?

I saw a bug report on bugs.kde.org that indicates that QT and KDE apps use 2 different stacks for copy/paste functionality. So they might have trouble “communicating”.

Hmmm. Looks like I will have to get used to this bug, or explore other file managers.

Just as an FYI, I haven’t had any issues with Dolphin, so it might be worth looking into why it causes issues on your end.

Do I have to start another topic or do I keep posting here?

Yes, provide some information about your system as explained here

Thank you for your reply, here it is.

All seems in order with your system, so that leads to this

Also, in Settings you can set the Compositor like this:

I’ve just purged baloo as in the link you posted and set the compositor parameters as in the image. Let’s see if from now on my system stops going all black when Dolphin is working. I’ll let you know how it goes these days. Thank you.

It’s been a couple of months and since the baloo purging and applying the compositor parameters, the black screen problem seems to be gone for good.
