Need to restart bluetooth service to connect headphones

I use my bluetooth ear buds with my phone and my laptop. That worked fine at the beginning, but I started to have issues connecting them to the laptop some weeks ago.

When I try to connect the headphones, I will then hear the connection sounds in the earpiece and it is shown as connected on screen for a second, but then it gets disconnected right away again. Bluetooth is then off (because it crashed) and I have to restart the service with sudo systemctl restart bluetooth.
Then I can just connect the headphones again, and they stay connected and everything works.
It’s the same behavior whether I do it via blueman or the Gnome extension “Bluetooth Quick Connect”.

I am not sure when this behavior gets triggered, my guess is when I try to connect the headphones after the laptop was on “sleep”.

These are some errors that I see when I start blueman in the terminal

edit the file /etc/default/grub and add the following line

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="btusb.enable_autosuspend=n usbcore.autosuspend=-1"

after editing you have to run

sudo update-grub

and reboot

you can check the parameter with

cat /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend

i also recommend to edit the /etc/bluetooth/main.conf
and enable the parameter FastConnectable = true by deleting the #

it’s also important to know if your running a combined wifi-bluetooth adapter. in this case the coexistence-parameter can cause failures. due to missing information i can only inform you about this problem, otherwise
:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    [HowTo] Provide System Information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

:+1

Thank you for your reply

I tried your suggestion, but unfortunately still the same issue. This is the error right after bluetooth fails (with sudo systemctl status bluetooth)

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width:

It seems to work now again. I guess the latest Manjaro update must have fixed it.
