Go to System Settings > Displays and Monitor > Compositor and enable effects on startup. Also install mesa-utils package and share inxi -G.

Effects are enabled but seem to have failed.

Fixing it for you: effects have failed and are now disabled (and you can enable them again by clicking the button), as your screenshot tells. Many reason could have caused a crash, we don’t even have the context, your thread is not telling anything, only the title says “My machine just froze”.

I was browsing the internet the machine became irresponsive. I was watching a youtube video I think.

maybe wait next change in kernel

Thanks for putting effort to bring this up. IS there any log I can look for or some more relevant info a I can provide?

A sudden freeze can be have any number of causes - it is really hard locate when there’s no hands on.

Most notably a pending reboot after sync of kernel, kernel modules, drivers and firmware.
