it seems to be a hit or miss with that device

Another thought - since you are dualbooting windows - you should ensure the Windows feature Fast Startup is disabled - it may lock the device if enabled.

I haven’t encountered this issue for years now, either it’s been fixed, or it hasn’t happened because I haven’t been dual booting.

Still, I do recommend trying a cold boot, it can often solve many problems, like it did mine back then.

Same problem here.
I solved it by switching from kernel 6.12 to kernel 6.14.0-rc4-1-MANJARO.
