My dear fellow @moderators,

No need to read the entire conversation. Just this bit:

  1. I saw one flag coming in by a user and agreed

  2. then I saw another flag coming in by the user whose comment was just flagged (so far: normal) and agreed as well

  3. Then I saw a few flags coming in and I agreed with some and disagreed with a few others

  4. Then I saw a :poop: :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain: of flags coming in so i:

    • Activated Select posts
    • Started reading from the bottom
    • Selecting all flagged posts and responses to flagged posts until I arrived at the top
    • Moved everything into a post ā€œVivaldi flame warā€
    • Unlisted the post
    • Told everyone to shut up until I read all of the posts
    • (They didnā€™t listen, but they were calming down)
    • They agreed to all like Vivaldi but disagree on the eternal Open vs closed source
    • They agreed that I could share this with you

Why is it important to share with all of you?

The flame war was on an announcement, so I couldnā€™t unlist the entire conversation because no one would have noticedā€¦ so when this happens you have a few options:

  • Set slow mode:
    image
(I decided against that as I thought I could handle the flood)
  • Do what I just didā€¦

This was one the most polite ā€œflame warsā€ Iā€™ve seen.
