Manjaro Budgie won't load desktop on boot, have to startx

Hi all, first time here.
I’m hoping I’m posting in the correct category, let me know if I need to post this some where else.
I have been using Manjaro Budgie for some time with no issues.
I have recently installed a SSD and freshly installed Manjaro Budgie and struck a few problems.
I have managed to work through most of these by following solutions in the forums (thanks everyone  )
The one remaining issue is every time I boot I end up with a blank screen as the desktop environment doesn’t load.
I’m able to press ctrl alt f2 to login and startx to load the desktop.
Some posts indicate this maybe a lightdm issue, but I haven’t found a solution that works yet.
I’m a bit of a newbie on the terminal but I’m happy to follow instructions

I forgot to mention that I have fully updated the system.
Also I often get the following errors when booting:
[FAILED] failed to start Light Display Manager.
[FAILED] failed to start pkgfile database update.

journalctl provides the following info:

Ok, installing Plymouth solves the issue, but does give a noisy boot - but hey it works
I followed the advice here:
