I found this topic: Configure Low Disk Space Threshold?
but I believe it’s KDE?
Also found this: Disk quota - ArchWiki
but it seems overkill and complicated to configure
I just want warnings on certain limits, ideally as a background service but at the very least on start up.
Can you recommend me something? I couldn’t find something suitable by myself.

Ha, I even had that (explicitly) installed, just not configured. Would be cool if it could pop up a notification though.
The description of it says it does that:
There are two limits: a warning limit where only the icon changes, and an urgent limit that advise the user with a message.
