Looking to make a switch to Manjaro, but

I’m a long time openSuse - Gnome user looking to swap distros for three reasons.

  1. Something happened with the forums and no matter what I do I can’t create a new account or login to openSuse forums so I have near no avenue for support.

  2. I was using Tumbleweed, but have been experiencing difficulties with graphics drivers. I recently bought an ASUS TUF laptop with a Ryzen 7 4800h and Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti, but the chipsets are constantly battling for driver dominance.

  3. Something in the last update to kernel 5.12 broke my graphics card settings for good. I use my graphics card for Blender, CAD, and occasionally gaming… so I’d like it to work.

I was hoping someone out there has a similar ASUS laptop and could guide me through the setup in Manjaro. Can it be done? Is kernel 5.12 just a junk pile? Does Gnome vs. KDE perform differently graphics driver wise?

I can provide any more details as needed. Thanks.

Hello,

Manjaro forum is neat, also in regards with searching. This few results should help you

But there are more than one ASUS TUF model, so it might depend.

This is how you find and can provide good information abut your system
