Looking for advise to extend my swap partition, while reducing Root Partition, when possible with KDE Partition Manager

Hello,
i want to resize my Swap Partition (sdc2) and extend it from 3Gbyte to 6Gbyte.

I hope someone can assist me, how to archive this goal.

I was thinking to boot with my Manjaro usb bootstick and boot into live environment to get good and easy access.

I thinking to use KDE Partition Manager where i got already a little experience with and reduce / partition (root) (sdc1) by 3 Gbyte and extend the swap partition (sdc2) and clicking on apply and done and restart into the normal boot?

Is this as easy as it sounds or did i miss something? Do i have to maybe also use chroot or fstab and that i also need to update grub in terminal?

I don’t want to do something wrong, i hope someone can give me advise. I also created Timeshift backup, just in case. But im not sure if backup even works after i changed and reduced root partition.

Please help me out.

It looks like you are booting in BIOS mode as your sdc is formatted with MBR. In your case I would disable swap, remove the existing swap partition, extend the space of your / partition to take benefit of this space (e.g. using GParted) and create a new partition for swap using the unallocated space at the end of the disk.

All this should be done from a live boot (Manjaro on USB stick) to make sure no partition is mounted. All details you will find easily using a search engine of your choice.

Is there something wrong by reducing my Root Partition?

I only have found infos for swapfile but not swap partition.

I also searched in this forum… i dont see anything that would answer my questions.

Is there more infos that i need to know about? Or why you suggest to search the internet for more details?

I did everything exactly as you said. But when i boot into Manjaro after that, i get “error hybernation device:UUID=a44dd3c4-f5f1-4587-8934-6f7413d28d4f not found” and the system stuck,
not even TTY worked.

I rebooted again on the livedisk and edited fstab with the changed UUI and it finally boot into Manjaro but i still got the same error. :confused:

Edit: i see in inxi still the old UUID entry:
resume=UUID=a44dd3c4-f5f1-4587-8934-6f7413d28d4f udev.log_priority=3.

Under Kernel and parameters.

I finally fixed the error by myself with:

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

where i was looking for:
resume=UUID=a44dd3c4-f5f1-4587-8934-6f7413d28d4f

and replaced the UUID with the new one, i saved grub.

and did:

sudo update-grub
