Hi!
Since last update (2025-02-04) libreoffice has stopped working.
I’ve tried deleting my .config/libreoffice folder, and reistalling libreoffice, both in fresh and still compilations, so that it’s a new fresh install of the program.
Always the same problem. The splash screen starts and stops. Lauched from terminal, the only message I’ve got is:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException'
And nothing more than I can find…
Any help is welcome! I do really need libreoffice, and I’d prefer no to use flatpack or snap…
I have no plgin installed. Just libreoffice-fresh packages (from pacman, nothing more added, 24.8.4-2), and the libreoffice-fresh-en-gb and libreoffice-fresh-es packages for language.
Any idea?
Don’t know your system as any input is missing.
But - just googled:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=206869
The solution for exactly your error message was that GTK3 was missing - did you try this already?
Yup, @Zauberer-Merlin beat me to it.
I have the same version - it opens cleanly with a warning:
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
Nothing to worry about.
Unless one wishes to use LibreOffice features that actually do require a JRE.
If I understand correctly, The Document Foundation has long aimed to reduce the LibreOffice dependence on Java, but I’m uncertain what the current status is.
Thanks, but that’s no the case, I have GTK2, GTK3 and GTK4 installed, son that’s no it. Also tried the java disabled question proposed there, but also not working.
I’ll continue trying!
No, that’s not the question here. I have working java (was also before the update), and if I try to set not ti use java, the error stays there.
It has to be another question… Thanks anyway!
I does not seem to be a Java problem. If I set the parameters not to use java,
in .config/libreoffice/4/user/config/javasettings
it gives the worning about java not being used, but the same error
So, it seems to be other problem…
SOLVED!
Such an stupid question (as always…)
I was deleting my
.config/libreoffice
folder, to get a fresh install. But it seems that I was needing to delete also the
/etc/libreoffice
folder. And there are thing remainig there that were broking the app. So, I delete that, and everything worked.
Then I copy my older .config/libreoffice folder to get my data, history… and all broke again. But copying it folder by folder proved that the problematic one was 4/user/uno_packages (as easy to guess from messages), so I did copy everything but this one, and all is properly working now.
Thanks!
