Libreoffice crashes on save as and export to pdf.
Then the files are recoverted on restart of Libreoffice.
What I have observered: this only happend on KDE desktop, not XFCE.
I have two computers running KDE and two runnning XFCE.
Tested on Plasma Wayland - a simple document - no crash.
Without means to reproduce reliably it is difficult to have an opinion why the rendering fails.
- Is it consistent and reproducable?
- Can you reproduce with different documents?

Both Libreoffice still and fresh crash.
I happens every time, when I want to execute save as or export to pdf.
Can I switch debug mode on or start Libreoffice on console ?
- Step 1: Test with a new user.
- Step 2: If the issue is clean on a new USER, then first try moving your Office config folder (same place, new name) then restart Office to create a default config - test again.
- Step 3: If it’s still not working - then there’s a problem.
Step 1 or step 2 probably of equal priority…
mv ~/.config/libreoffice ~/.config/libreofficeBROKEN
If these steps fail, then go back to Libreoffice crashes on `save as` and `export to pdf` - #2 by linux-aarhus

The problem occurs again.
Did you installed the Flatpak Version? Maybe a permission issue
I’m running a fully updated Manjaro Stable with Plasma, and I’ve got libreoffice-fresh installed.
I cannot reproduce what you are reporting. So whatever it is, it must be something local to your Plasma machines.

I have not installed Flatpack version.
Acutally, I am testing.
I have opened 6 files with writer.
Then save as - first file can be saved and then the second one crashes writer.
Writer restarts and then the files are recovered.
The first file after restarting can saved, the second one not.
First and obvious question is:
is your system fully up to date?
My next step would be to check for any AUR packages.
libreoffice has quite a lot of optional dependencies - are some of these from AUR?
After you removed the old configuration to start with a fresh one:
which didn’t have the desired effect, the next step would be to create a new test user account, log in as that user and see whether that yields different results.
Are we talking about libreoffice-fresh or libreoffice-still?
Something many typically ignore as a possibility is that the files themselves are damaged (for whatever reason). A damaged document is often enough to choke an application.
You could try creating new documents, add some basic content, and then try to save them. If that has the same result, possibly the base templates are damaged on disk.
There’s another avenue of investigation.
LibreOffice templates can either be recreated manually or replaced by downloading fresh copies.

I have no packages installed from AUR.
I have created 6 new files, saved them and the save as.
Then Libreoffice crashed.
I am using Libreoffice still.
I can fully confirm the description by Keruskerfuerst. Occurs on my system as well since the last major update a week ago: Libreoffice occasionally crashes on saving files of all types (“save as”) and creating PDF files. No difference whether writer or calc.
I have tested this with a new account.
Same behaviour. Libreoffice crashes.
I am unable to reproduce this on my KDE Plasma Desktop. Opened 6 files concurrently, saved some as newname.odt, others as somename.pdf, no issues.

I have tried to change the default template and this does not solve the problem.
I have also tested Libreoffice fresh on the Windows 10 installation and this works.
So, I don´t think the problem is related to the hardware.
Have you tried starting it from terminal?
Often a bit of useful info is printed there.
Have a terminal open - with
journalctl -f
running in it - it is a live view of whatever is currently written to the system log.
Or examine the logs around the time where the crash occurs.
