Keyboard & touchpad input doesn't work after the update

After the testing update 24-01-2022, my keyboard and touchpad stops working. It hangs there at the SDDM screen.

It can be because of libinput update. Because I am using a fork of libinput for three-figer-drag support, which is this one:

In that case, you know what to do.

Boot up from the install medium in live mode and issue the following commands…:

sudo su -
manjaro-chroot -a
pacman -S libinput
sync
exit
systemctl reboot

The lesson to learn from this experience is to never replace a system library by something that isn’t in our repositories.

Also, kernel 5.14 is EOL. You should switch to 5.15 ─ which is an LTS kernel ─ or to 5.4 LTS or 5.10 LTS.

Why? What’s wrong with the repo version?

It’s up to you to manage your own packages outside of the repos.

Well, because as you see: I am a long time Macbook user, and there is this three-finger-drag gesture I desperately need.
Repo version doesn’t support three-finger-drag, the fork does.
In short: Old habits die hard.

Well, apparently the fork does not ─ or at least not anymore. :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, very true :upside_down_face:
I will try your solution as soon as I find time. Then post the result here, thanks

I did this, didn’t work.
Keyboard and touchpad are not working.
Now, I am not sure if this is a problem with forked libinput. And if it is, I was using it for months, and this is the first time I’m having problem.

I used Timeshift to restore my system to old version, which is kernel 5.14. That is actually why I am using an unsupported kernel.

What about the live manjaro ? Does it work ?
You also may try kernel 5.10 or 5.15

Kernel 5.15 didn’t work.
But 5.10 did. I also switched my branch back to stable. Downgraded all packages with “pacman -Syyuu”

But now I am having weird dependency issues with AUR packages.
When I run “pamac update” it gives me this:
