Long ago I tried to teach my fingers to use the “Real” cyrillic keyboard as they use in Russia, but was unhappy with their (fingers’) tendency to reach for the mnemonic key instead of the Russian one. So I learnt the “Russian Mnemonic” keyboard layout (easily installed in Windows 10+). Can anyone suggest a good keyboard to use with a hotkey to switch between RUS and EN-US? [basic_kbdrum] Add notany statement and more dk rules · keymanapp/keyboards@7103cd4 · GitHub this one claims to be compatible with the Windows Mnemonic keyboard, but I haven’t installed a second keyboard in Arch or Manjaro yet, so need a “Beginners Guide.”
Thanks in advance,
Alex
Hi. Perhaps there is no need for 3rd party keyboard layout. Try to choose this keyboard variant in system settings:
Russian (phonetic, Windows)
Maybe that is what you are looking for.
P.S. You can use this command line to setup this variant as additional layout to US keyboard:
sudo localectl --no-convert set-x11-keymap us,ru pc104 ,phonetic_winkeys grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
