KDE Plasma password dialog does not appear

There are occasions ( it seems to be random and I have not discerned a pattern) when after the screen switches off, on waking the screen does not show a password dialog and I have to reboot to get back into the system.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Manjaro: 5.15.76-1-MANJARO

KDE Plasma: 5.26.2
KDE Frameworks: 5.99.0

I have to reboot to get back into the system.

You can also switch to another tty and use

$ loginctl unlock-session $session-id

to unlock that session.
