This is still happening on Lenovo X240 XFCE with the kernel 5.19.
Except keyboard is always working but the joystick and touchpad is randomly dead on my end.
Rebooting the system is not the cure and I hope this gets resolved soon!

Yes but any random start of the machine and it gets disabled again (Like every 4th boot of the system). I don’t know why when I haven’t had any problems with the touchpad on any other Kernels.
Why don’t you go play on your banjo when you seem not to understand the problem.
My thinkpad touchpad problems are solved.
So, while I was sitting there and playing banjo, I thought it would be nice to have some some info of your device, or a crystal ball.
and while you’re at it, take a look at /var/log/messages if there are messages about psmouse .
If it looks like an interruption try:
sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse
Does this wake it up again ?

I found out that it’s the hibernate that is disabling the touchpad and running the command brings it back up!
Then we just have to wait for system info.
Meanwhile I go playiing banjo.
