Issues after user switching from GUI, eg. logout/login

I have this problem too. Log out and then back in and plasmashell never loads up properly. I always have to reboot. Normally need to load up a terminal and sudo reboot.

Seems the solution provided here at least gets rid of the lingering processes after logout.

Instead of editing /etc/systemd/logind.conf directly, make a config snippet like /etc/systemd/logind.conf.d/override.conf and put your setting there.
