Issue appeared again, fails to upgrade to new kernel using pacman -Syu or GUI updater

Hello,

I reported an issue a few weeks ago.

The thread is now closed.
The workaround suggested by Aragorn worked then.

But the issue came back trying to upgrade 6.1.53 to 6.1.55.
I repeated the instruction give in the topic mentioned above, but this time it did not fix the issue.

Performing the kernel upgrade by pacman -Syu leads me into rescue console after reboot.
The only fix is to use:
pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/[laster kernel installed]
pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/[laster kernel header installed]

Hello,

after installing kernel 6.5 by mhwd-kernel -i linux65 and pacman -S linux65-headers linux61-headers
The kernel is not able to boot, displaying the error: β€œ/vmlinuz-6.5-x86_x64” not found - Error: You must load the kernel at fist.
I managed to boot the system using Manjaro extended boot options and booting the last installed kernel.
I checked grub.cfg and /boot/efi
The file exists in boot efi folder, as well as the file from bootable kernel 6.1.5.3
The file ist correctly configured in grub.cfg as well as boot file for kernel 6.1.5.3
I also tried to use grub-update, but not affecting the kernel 6.5 vmlinuz missing issue.

is there another disk or partition with flag boot or esp ?

I have installed 2 OSes Windows 10 and Manjaro, no other linux distro because Manjaro is the best :slight_smile:
Yes the Windows Partition got a boot flag bot EFI Boot is configured to use the grub boot partition.
Yes I checked UUIDs and they are matching grub.cfg entries.

*on the end of the last command there is an error pointing out kernel 6.5 does not exist …

** After reboot into the grub main entry was configured to boot kernel 6.1.53-1

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux65
sudo pacman -S linux65-headers linux61-headers

did you maybe mistype?
After modifiying it to this it wokred in combination with further steps from your next post:

sudo pacman -S linux65-headers
